Multimodal Treatment Approach:
Treatment is all about what you want to put into it.
Through clinical experience in a range of settings, I’ve seen patients have most successful results when they are open to combining medication management with some form of psychotherapy. Additionally, I encourage patients to develop an awareness practice and can call upon my own passions of yoga and mindfulness to help.
Lasting change does happen overnight, but with a flexible mindset and a multimodal approach, I believe I can help you can achieve it.
All patients coming for the first time will have a slightly longer 70-minute evaluation session which includes a review of multiple aspects of a patient's history up to the current point in time.
This session is integral in generating a diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Please note that not all evaluations can be conducted thoroughly in one session.
If applicable, Dr. Gallardo will review existing components of treatment and/or put a plan in place to review other pieces of collateral information relevant to the treatment plan.
The initial evaluation session is integral in generating diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Due to the complex nature of life and psychiatric conditions, please note that not all evaluations can be conducted to completion in one session and may require patience over time to do the most thorough assessment.
Dr. Gallardo will conduct a thorough evaluation and history before coming up with medication recommendations.
While using the most current evidence-based medication recommendations, Dr. Gallardo believes in educating patients about medication expectations, parameters to monitor, and likely side effects.
Medications used by psychiatrists can often seem intimidating and frustrating to patients. Dr. Gallardo strives to help patients set realistic medication goals and provide the relevant educational information to ensure the best outcome.
After the initial evaluation, typical medication management follow-up appointments are 30 minutes with Dr. Gallardo to allow for time for psychoeducation and questions, which is more than the typical length of follow-up appointment offered by insurance-accepting psychiatry clinics.
