I believe awareness of self, emotional state, and environment leads to the eventual making of change over time.

If you are completely unaware of something, how can you change it?

Through my own clinical and personal experiences, I have developed what I call an "awareness practice". Any type of mindful activity can be considered an awareness practice. In his book Peace is Every Step, Thich nhat Hanh describes multiple activities - from listening to bells to washing dishes. Anytime you're noticing the world, yourself, your inner state in the moment, you are engaging in an awareness practice!

My own "awareness practice" consists of daily yoga and guided meditation several times/week. Your "awareness practice" can consist of anything - walking, sitting in the backyard watching the desert animals, or mindfully drinking a cup of coffee.
